It was, for Barbara, a fairly tame sample of her letter-writing, except for one thing. She'd thought of something she'd meant to tell me after she'd sealed the letter, so she wrote it on the back of the envelope. And I can remember that when I got the letter I wondered how many U.S. Mail-people had read it and wondered about it.
Just below the seal she'd written: "Daddy found a live catfish on the front porch this morning."
And for the life of me I can't remember the story behind that spectacular statement! I'm going to have to make a phone call and have my memory jogged!!

There is such a thing as walking catfish, maybe that was one of them. Here on the Big Muddy, we have flying catfish. Seriously!
Yes I remember the san antonio newspaper having articles about walking catfish. It will be interesting to know what your sister was talking about.
Sounds like a BIG fish story to me. LOL I'm also write on the outside of envelopes and never thought about what other people thought until I read this.
I look forward to hearing the story behind that!
That is hilarious. I can't wait to hear what the story was.
I think we should all get together and write that on the back of everything we send snail mail, bills and all! We'd really have people wondering :-)
Thanks for stopping by Lori. Hope all has been going well in your world!
