{{Singing}} "Brush Up Your Shakespeare...."

I have been very bad about keeping up with my reading of Shakespeare for the past two months. I just really haven't been in the mood. I want to read all his works within 12 months, just to say that I read them all in one year's time, but it's hard to make myself read something I'm not in the mood for.

I shall persevere however.

Here is my updated LIST, if anyone is interested. I've recently read "Romeo and Juliet" (not ever a favorite by ANY means!!!), mainly because I figured it was a good one to use to introduce Eler Beth to The Bard, "King John" (a bit weak, but still Shakespeare), the Sonnets (again, because it fit in with Eler Beth's poetry unit we're doing), and two of my very favorite comedies, "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Twelfth Night". We read them, and then we watched the movies.

Has anyone else kept up with your Shakespeare lately?

Can anyone tell me (without googling) what the titular quote is from?

No. But I did enjoy it while I was reading it(prompted by you).
I'm reading an Elisabeth Berg book & a chimpanzee guide lately.

I'm not so sure that I could read even one of his works, lol. Bravo to you!

I read the complete works way back when I was in highschool and oh yes, I remember pushing myself through a good deal of it and skimming a number of them. It was however an accomplishment I am proud of and have met very few people who can say the same. I also finished the Bible cover to cover and in only about a year. That I finished in my early twenties and it has been a real blessing to me. War and Peace was incredible also... had a tough time getting through Crime and Punishment though.

Lisa, I really enjoyed reading Crime and Punishment when I read it my Senior year in high school, and I read it again a few years later, but have never read War and Peace. I've read the Bible all the way through a couple times now, and it's something we do daily as a family. Before I heard of "Read Shakeskpeare in a Year" I had read all but three of his plays and a couple of poems. (Most while I was in high school, too. lol) But I thought it would be neat to read all 37 and the Sonnets in a 12-month period, just to say I did. I don't have any problem reading them, it's just that it's something I've always been in the mood to read when I've read them. I've never had to make myself read him when I've been in the mood for something else.

I'm not a big reader. I try and I try but I haven't found a book yet that holds my attention. Maybe I have ADD? LOL

Have a good week.

I have an abiding love of Shakespeare as I've written from time to time. Having recently played Sir Toby in "Twelfth Night" I have great recollections of that play. If you read Shakespeare with a good guide you discover all kinds of great references that don't seem clear on the surface. For example "Many a good hanging has prevented a bad marriage."

Brush up your Shakespeare is from Kiss Me Kate, the musical based on Taming Of The Shrew.
