Facebook

Yes, Facebook can be very time-consuming. But this evening I was reminded of one of the reasons I like it so much.

First I saw the name of an old high school classmate of mine in a comment on another friend's profile. So I contacted her, and now we're in touch again. Hours later I logged in to see that I had a friend request from another old classmate of mine -- "OMG, Lori, is that you? It's me!" --, and then only minutes after that, while I was still responding to "OMG", I got a private email from a girl with whom I'd worked at the newspaper before I was married (she was two years ahead of me in school, too), and it was especially wonderful to hear from her. She and I spent a lot of late-night hours putting the paper to bed and getting punchy and silly over nothing. I learned that her son, who was a baby the last time I saw him, is now a college graduate and married, and she has remarried and has two daughters now.

Yes, it is nice to hear from people we haven't seen or heard of in years. To be fair, though, I don't think I'd be spending much time blogging anyway, even without Facebook. I just got out of the mood and out of the mode for a while. However, the past few days I have had entries writing themselves in my mind, so one just might make its way out of my head and into the blogosphere before too long.

This spring has been super busy for me -- graduations, weekend mini-vacations, terms ending, relatives having surgery. (I was SO tempted, Beth, to put "and so on" or "etc." at the end of that sentence, but I didn't, just for you! lol) I've read or skimmed through blogs but have not left many comments lately. We are all well, and busy, and happy, and I guess I can't ask for more than that.

Hope everyone is well out there and enjoying their summer. Ta for now!

FB certainly does allow reconnection with our pasts.

I love facebook. And I didn't until school was out this year. I have found so many people.

Good to hear from you. :)

I like facebook because a few people from my past are on there. I keep my blog because they don't know where to find it! LOL
Let's face it, so of those people are in my past for a reason.
take care and enjoy your summer

Haha at leaving out the etc.! I have to admit that I've caught myself a few times and remembered to leave it off.

I think Facebook is an amazing phenomenon. Kelli is right...some of the people are in my past for a reason...but it's a great way to keep in touch with former coworkers that I don't see very often.

Glad to hear you're all well and happy, if not fat and sassy! ;) Hugs, Beth

Good for you for finding old friends like that. I was on
facebook for a few days and then canceled out. Too much gossip for me.

I'm not keen on the idea of Facebook, but so far so good.

I like Facebook as well, especially finding old friends. It's a little slow sometimes but it's a pretty good site.

I find that blogging is a little less distracting though.

I have been in the same mode. More fb, less blogging!

Hi Lori! It was good to have a comment pop in from you! I've been fighting going to facebook, so many people have asked me to but I just don't wanna! I hated myspace and hated classmates.com even more. I like my blogging friends and really have no desire to hook up with people from my past. I think I'll stick with blogging for now but promise to look you up over there if I ever do cave in and sign up :-)

We found loads of old friends and relatives on FB. I love it. Simple and quick. BUT for my own private thoughts I go to my blog. My family thinks they're dumb and would never read what I write! plus I've grown so attached to so many here.

That's why i like Facebook, too. We recently had a facebook reunion for the people from our area, and i hear it was great (had other obligations that night), but finding friends again...there's nothing like it.

glad to hear everyone is well and happy. :-)

Good Morning Lorm
Well friend I am up early this am enjoying my cup of tea, and trying to catch up on some journals that I so love to read.
The summer seems to be slipping away so quickly here in Alberta...We have had some really hot days and then lots of rain.
I think you may have heard about the "Big Valley Jamboree" disaster??
I used to take one of my mobile concessions to this large C & W events.
Apparantly KEVIN COSTNER was about to go on stage when the wind hit.
Sadly one lady was killed and several seriously injured.
Blessings to you and yours.

I suspended my FB account ~ I couldn't keep up with everything and I suppose I just got overwhelmed! I'm glad to hear it is working so well for you though.
